  • Xbloc® Breakwater nominated for Dutch Concrete Award 2007

    The Dutch Concrete Award is organized once every two years and rewards the most creative and eye-catching applications of concrete in completed projects. This year the breakwater of Port Oriel is nominated. It is the first Xbloc® breakwater in Europe.

  • Confirmative drop tests in presence of Poti Port Authority

    In the presence of the Client, the Port Authority of Port of Poti, the contractor Boskalis perfromed drop tests. The drop tests confirmed the earlier executed drop tests of the Xboc®.

  • Delta Marine Consultants and CSIR Coastal & Hydraulic Laboratory have started extensive research on the repair of Dolos breakwaters using Xbloc® armour units

    In the past Core-loc® armour units have been used for the repair of Dolos breakwaters due to their similar shape. However, the 6 interlocking sides of the Xbloc® (compared to 4 of the Core-loc®) may lead to better and easier interlocking and higher stability.

  • The New Rock Manual

    17 july 2007

    The first issue of the Manual on the use of rock in coastal and shoreline engineering, commonly referred to as The Rock Manual was published in 1991 and updated in 1995. After extensive research by more then 100 experts from Europe, led by CIRIA, CUR and CEFMEF, the new edition the Rock Manual is now available. Development continued after 1995 and the scope was extended and now includes the use of rock and alternatives and increases the focus on environmental and sustainability concerns.

  • First 2000 Xbloc® units produced in Port of Poti, Georgia

    The first 2000 Xbloc® units have been produced and stored in Port of Poti Georgia. The casting started two months ago. The moulds were produced in the Netherlands and transported over more then 4000 km by trucks.

  • Official opening of modernised fishery harbour of Port Oriel

    18 may 2007

    In August of 2005 the rehabilitation and extension works at Port Oriel started. 1600 Xbloc® units of 4 m3 were succesfully placed by Lagan Construction Ltd. Friday the 18th of May the harbour was in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Dermot Ahern T.D. festively opened by the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources Mr. Noel Dempsey T.D.
