The New Rock Manual

The first issue of the Manual on the use of rock in coastal and shoreline engineering, commonly referred to as The Rock Manual was published in 1991 and updated in 1995. After extensive research by more then 100 experts from Europe, led by CIRIA, CUR and CEFMEF, the new edition the Rock Manual is now available. Development continued after 1995 and the scope was extended and now includes the use of rock and alternatives and increases the focus on environmental and sustainability concerns.
In chapter 5 design processes are described and design tools are given of different armour layers and armour units including the Xbloc®.
