Xbloc® casting started at Caladh Mor

The casting of 4 m3 Xbloc® units has started at Caladh Mor, Ireland.
On the island Inis Meain on the west coast of Ireland 4 m3 Xbloc® units are being cast. The Xbloc® units will be used as armour layer for the new breakwater for the ferry port. The Xbloc® units are being cast by Concrete Inis Meain. The breakwater will be the second Xbloc® breakwater in Europe. The design has been done by RPS. Model testing has been carried out by Queens University in Belfast.
