New Xbloc project in the Pacific

In December 2008 a license agreement for a new Xbloc project has been signed. It will be the third Xbloc project in the Pacific.

Breakwaters at Caladh Mor completed

The breakwaters for the new ferry port of Caladh Mor on Inish Meain are completed. At the construction of the breakwaters placement rates of 15-20 Xblocs per hour were achieved.

Breakwater at Champerico Guatemala Completed

In August the last Xblocs have been placed on the breakwater at Champerico in Guatemala. 1260 Xblocs have been placed in three months time.

Xbloc® team at ICCE 2008 in Hamburg

The Xbloc® team will attend the ICCE conference in Hamburg, Germany from 31th of August till 5th of September 2008. You can meet them at the Xbloc® booth.

Xbloc® Placement at IJmuiden

2 june 2008

Amid great interest 10 Eco-Xblocs have been placed on the southern breakwater of IJmuiden. Deltares and Dutch Ministry of Public Works, together with SHELL, BAM, DMC, IMARES, Cfix and Heijmans are involved at this test area of "The Rich Dike" project. Different armour units of different materials and textures will be monitored during three years to evaluate their ecological value.

First Eco Xbloc Produced

Dutch institutes Deltares, Dutch Ministry of Public Works, Technical University of Delft and the Port of Rotterdam joined together in a project called "The Rich Dike". This project had been initiated to improve the ecological value of hard shore protections.

Delta Marine Consultants has granted the Brazilian Contractor Norberto Odebrecht S.A. a licence for the application of Xbloc® armour units for the construction of the shore protection of the Cinta Costera boulevard of Panama City, in Panama.

First Xbloc® Application in Americas

25 februari 2008

Delta Marine Consultants (DMC) has granted Van Oord Dredging and Marine Contractors BV a licence for the application of the Xbloc® armour unit for the construction of a breakwater in Champerico, Guatemala.

Overtopping Manual

15 januari 2008

In August of 2007 the Overtopping Manual was introduced. This manual implements new information gathered from the CLASH project and national research projects in new techniques to predict wave overtopping on seawalls, flood embankments, breakwaters and other shoreline structures.
