First Eco Xbloc Produced

Dutch institutes Deltares, Dutch Ministry of Public Works, Technical University of Delft and the Port of Rotterdam joined together in a project called "The Rich Dike". This project had been initiated to improve the ecological value of hard shore protections.

As part of this project cubes and Xblocs will be tested at the southern breakwater of IJmuiden. The Xbloc® is tested with different gradations of roughness at the surface of the X shaped base. The growth of organisms on the surface will be monitored in the coming three years.
