First Xbloc® Application in Americas

Delta Marine Consultants (DMC) has granted Van Oord Dredging and Marine Contractors BV a licence for the application of the Xbloc® armour unit for the construction of a breakwater in Champerico, Guatemala.
The breakwater will have a length of 500 m, and as main armour layer 4 m3 Xblocs will be applied. The construction of the breakwater will be executed in the coming 18 months. The steel Xbloc® moulds were fabricated by BAM, and are being shipped to Guatemala, where they will be assembled. Champerico will be the first Xbloc application in the Americas.
