Port of Poti Breakwater, Georgia (part 2)

The existing breakwater in Poti constructed in 1873, required renovation. In 2008 a small section of the breakwater of concrete cubes was improved by using Xblocs. The contract was awarded to BESIX and STFA. First 2D and 3D model tests were executed at DHI in Denmark. In 2021 the 3m3 Xbloc production started. The concrete cubes were demolished and filter layer and underlayers were placed prior to the Xblocs. The existing crown wall and lighthouse are structures where the Xblocs were placed around.
