A multi-purpose, Deep Sea Port at the heart of the Lagos Free Trade Zone will be contructed. Xblocs will be used along the breakwater of Lekki Port.

La Nouvell Route du Littoral (NRL), Réunion

La Nouvell Route du Littoral (NRL), Réunion

Xblocs will be used on the new coastal road (La Nouvelle Route du Littoral NRL) on the French island La Réunion in the Indian Ocean. The license agreement has been signed with a joint venture of GTOI (part of Colas), SBTPC (part of Vinci) and Vinci Construction Terrassement.

Cotonou, Benin

To counteract coastal erosion, new groynes will be constructed east of the port of Cotonou, Benin. Both Xbloc armoured and rock armoured groynes will be applied. The design has been done by Roche from Canada. Construction is done by Boskalis. The Xbloc project in Cotonou is the fifth project where Boskalis is involved in the placement of Xbloc armour units.

Pointe Noire, Congo

Pointe Noire, Congo

At Pointe Noire, Congo, an existing breakwater will be extended to increase the protection of the port. The project is carried out by Boskalis.

Bar Beach, Nigeria

Bar Beach, Nigeria

The first phase of the project consists of a shore protection of 1 km length, armoured by 1.5 m3 Xblocs. This coastal erosion control project will solve a long lasting erosion problem that over the past 50 years led to the regression of several hundreds of meters of coastline. The construction has started in January 2006. Bar beach is the first Xbloc application in Africa.
